Eloquence: Daily Vocabulary
Last updated: June 2, 2026
The Short Version: Eloquence works fully on your device, and you can use it without an account. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we sync your progress across your devices and store your name, email, and learning data in our EU-hosted database. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. You can delete your account and all of its data at any time from inside the app.
1. Who We Are
Eloquence is a daily vocabulary app for iOS, developed and operated by Pixel Management (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, when it leaves your device, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Eloquence iOS app and its home screen widgets.
2. Using Eloquence Without an Account
You can use Eloquence without signing in. In this mode the app is local-first: your daily progress, favourites, saved library, and settings are stored only on your device, inside the app's private sandbox. This data is not transmitted to us or anyone else.
The app's home screen widgets read this on-device data through a private App Group so they can show your word of the day and favourites. Widget data never leaves your device.
3. Information We Collect When You Sign In
Eloquence offers Sign in with Apple as an optional way to create an account and sync your data across devices. If you choose to sign in, we receive and store:
- Your name (first and last), as provided by Apple.
- Your email address. This may be a private relay address that Apple generates on your behalf (for example, something@privaterelay.appleid.com) if you choose to hide your real email. We treat whatever Apple gives us.
- A user identifier. A unique ID that links your account to your synced data.
Apple only shares your name and email the first time you sign in. We do not receive your Apple password or any other information from your Apple account. Sign in with Apple is handled through our authentication provider (see “Where Your Data Is Stored” below).
4. App Data We Sync to the Cloud
When you are signed in, the following app data is synced to our database so it stays consistent across your devices:
- Reading progress: your current word position, the date you last received a word, your total words seen, and your streak.
- Favourites: the list of words you have marked as favourites (stored as word references).
- Library: the words you have collected in your personal library (stored as word references).
This is the same vocabulary data you see in the app. It does not include any tracking, location, or behavioural profiling, just the words and progress you choose to keep.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above only to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Sync your progress, favourites, and library across your devices.
- Let you sign back in and recover your data on a new device.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or marketing, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone. Under the GDPR, our legal basis for this processing is the performance of our agreement with you to provide the app's sync features.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
Account data and synced app data are stored using Supabase, our hosting and authentication provider, which acts as a data processor on our behalf. The database is located in the European Union, and your data remains within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Access is protected by row-level security, so each account can only read and write its own data. We do not have access to your Apple password, and authentication tokens are managed securely by the provider rather than stored by the app.
7. What We Do Not Do
Eloquence deliberately avoids the things many apps do:
- No advertising. The app contains no ads and no advertising SDKs.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use Firebase, crash-reporting services, or any third-party analytics or telemetry SDK. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not track you across apps or websites.
- No selling of data. We never sell or share your personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
- No unnecessary collection. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or browsing history.
The only third parties involved are Apple (for Sign in with Apple, governed by Apple's own privacy policy) and Supabase (for hosting and authentication, as described above).
8. Device Permissions
Eloquence does not request access to your location, microphone, camera, contacts, or photo library. The only system capabilities it uses are:
- Sign in with Apple. Used only if you choose to create an account.
- Background app refresh. Used to prepare your daily word so it is ready when you open the app. This runs on your device and does not transmit personal data.
9. Data Retention
If you use Eloquence without an account, your data lives only on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
If you have an account, we keep your account and synced data for as long as your account exists, so your progress is there when you return. When you delete your account (see below), the associated data is permanently removed from our database.
10. Your Rights
Because we are based in the Netherlands and store data in the EU, the GDPR applies. You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. The most direct way to exercise your deletion right is the in-app “Delete Account” option described below. For any other request, contact us using the details in the “Contact” section and we will respond within the timeframes required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
11. Deleting Your Account and Data
Eloquence includes a built-in account deletion flow in Settings. When you delete your account, the app:
- Revokes your Sign in with Apple credential through Apple's official revocation process.
- Permanently deletes your account and all synced data (profile, progress, favourites, and library) from our database.
- Clears the related data stored locally on your device.
You can also remove on-device data at any time by deleting items in the app or by uninstalling Eloquence.
12. Children's Privacy
Eloquence is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The only personal data we collect is what you provide through Sign in with Apple. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete the associated data.
13. International Data Transfers
Your account and synced data are stored within the European Economic Area. Sign in with Apple is operated by Apple and is subject to Apple's own privacy policy and data handling, which may involve Apple's global infrastructure. We do not transfer your data outside the EEA for our own processing.
14. Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date above. If a future version of Eloquence changes how data is handled (for example, adding new features that collect additional information), we will describe those changes here and, where appropriate, in the App Store release notes before they take effect.
15. Contact
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how Eloquence handles your data, you can contact us at appstore@eloquencedaily.com.
